This was taken with nine exposures on a late summer evening in Chicago. The light made the lake have sort of a Caribbean blue color. It was one of my few trips there where I did not absolutely freeze to death or get shredded by ice crystals in monsoon-strength winds.

Top iPhone Apps for Christmas
I use my iPhone a lot. And I mean A LOT. I’m a big gamer and app-user. Besides playing games with my wife and friends, my 8-year-old is also uses it to play games… and he just may get an iTouch for Christmas. Anyway, here are some great games and apps for you and/or your family!

www.stuckincustoms.com/2009/12/24/top-iphone-apps/

Daily Photo – Green Man in Chicago

This is the famous "Bean" sculpture in Millennium Park in downtown Chicago. It was an extremely busy day around there, so there was no hope of getting the bean sans tourists… generally, I don’t like people around in my photos, but if there are going to be people, I want them to be interesting! Well I was lucky that Green Man was there… Now, I’m sure MOST of you don’t know who Green Man is… you sort of have to be a mindless disciple of a rather edgy TV show called "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Like the apps above, I do recommend it… although, it can be a little offensive, to say the least!

Chicago’s Millennium Park is a great place for photography. There are several cool things there, and one of them is this giant video wall. It has this strange glass brick-like covering and shows unusual images of people softly smiling at you. It reminds me a bit of big brother, as if there is a tiny camera behind there that the government is using to ensure that your park activity is appropriate.

I waited quite a while for some people to stand in front of the thing so I could capture a sense of scale. Then, by luck, a man and his young son walked up to it, which gave the perfect look. Furthermore, it was lucky that this part of the video loop was on the screen, since it was one of my favorites and probably mimicked the reaction of the guy standing there watching it.

I’ve heard the movie Watchmen isn’t living up to expectations – I’ve not seen it so I don’t know. Instead I offer my vision for the cover of Chicago, the graphic novel. It’s a gory tale of an American city populated by ambitious and corrupt politicians, hard-working immigrant laborers and everything in between. The text is by Nelson Algren and Studs Terkel. There are mobsters and law men of epic proportions, massacres and civil rights marches soaked in blood. Political demonstrations both exultant and tragic.

Note: To fit this image on flickr I had to reduce its size from 12,000×5,000 to 9000×3,000 (approx.) and compress the image – the real one is much bigger – we need to pressure flickr to allow larger photos!

**** Thanks all for pushing this to explore – you’re the best – I’m working to catch up and comment on all your wonderful work as well!!!
